You will sometimes see a button in the gradebook that looks like this:
This button appears in one of two circumstances:
- The student closed their assignment early. This is possible when the "Early submission" setting in the assignment editor is turned on.
- The student took a timed exam. This is possible when the "Time limit" setting in the assignment editor is set to a non-0 value.
In case #2, when you reopen the exam the student can attempt it again with the same time limit as before: the counter will just start over.
