Artusi in Blackboard

Modified on Thu, Sep 17 at 4:46 PM

1. Register Artusi (Blackboard administrator, once)

Blackboard does not use a registration link. Instead, Artusi support sends you Artusi’s Client ID. Email support@artusimusic.com with your school’s name to request it.

  1. Open the Administrator Panel, then under Integrations click LTI Tool Providers.
  2. Click Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool.
  3. Paste the Client ID Artusi sent you and click Submit.
  4. On the tool’s settings page, set Tool Status to Approved.
  5. Under Institution Policies, set User Fields to Send to include Role in Course, Name, and Email Address, and set Allow grade service access to Yes.
  6. Submit.

Then send Artusi support the values shown on that tool’s page, so Artusi can finish the connection on its side:

  • Deployment ID
  • Your Blackboard site’s URL

Artusi support will confirm when the connection is ready.

2. Add an Artusi assignment (instructor, once per assignment)

Each Blackboard item is linked to one Artusi assignment.

On Artusi: use an assignment you already have, or create one. This video shows how.

In Blackboard, add a new item for it:

Ultra course view

  1. On the course content page, click the plus sign where the assignment belongs and choose Content Market.
  2. Find Artusi and click the plus sign on its card to add it as a link.
  3. Open the new item’s settings, give it a name, and under Grading turn on Create gradebook entry for this item and set the maximum points.
  4. Leave Open in new window on. Artusi must not run inside a frame on the Blackboard page, or browsers block its login.
  5. Make the item visible to students.

Original course view

  1. In a content area, open Build Content and choose Artusi under Tools or Web Link with the tool selected.
  2. Give it a name, set Enable Evaluation to Yes, and set the points possible.
  3. Set Open in New Window to Yes. Artusi must not run inside a frame on the Blackboard page, or browsers block its login.
  4. Submit.

Now link it to the Artusi assignment:

  1. Click the item. Artusi opens.
  2. The first time from this Blackboard course, Artusi asks which Artusi course it belongs to. Pick one. Each Blackboard course links to one Artusi course, so if you teach several sections, make a separate Artusi course for each.
  3. Artusi shows the assignments in that course. Pick the one this item should open.

Students who click the item now land on the Artusi assignment, signed in.

3. Grades

Scores appear in the gradebook column created in section 2. For more information, see How Artusi sends grades to your LMS.

4. Troubleshooting

Artusi is not in the Content Market or Build Content menu. The tool is not approved, or is approved but not yet confirmed by Artusi support. Ask your administrator to check section 1.

Artusi says your school did not send an email address. The tool’s User Fields to Send setting does not include email. Ask your administrator to check section 1, step 5.

Grades never appear, and the item has no gradebook entry. Turn on the gradebook entry in section 2, or ask your administrator whether the tool’s grade service access is off, section 1, step 5. For other causes, see Common problems in any LMS.
